Catapult and Cannabis found in a stop and search

Hello Resident, 

I wanted to share some positive news following a traffic stop carried out by beat officers in Ashford yesterday.

While on patrol, officers observed a vehicle travelling at excessive speed. Further checks revealed that the vehicle had been seen in suspicious circumstances the previous day. Officers subsequently stopped the vehicle, which contained five occupants, all of whom were searched under S1 PACE. 

As a result of the stop, officers seized a substantial quantity of cannabis and two catapults. The individuals involved were dealt with accordingly.

The driver was found to hold only a provisional driving licence and was not being appropriately supervised. He was therefore reported for relevant traffic offences, and the vehicle was seized.

In our most recent survey, residents identified drug-related activity and road traffic issues as their top local concerns. We are committed to addressing these issues and will continue to take proactive action to keep our communities safe.
